This release of gvSIG 1.9 let the user run gvSIG using an USB stick.

Current release: gvSIG 1.9 Portable 2.0

Released 2010-08-25 — tested with gvSIG 1.9

gvSIG 1.9 Portable v2 includes NavTable in gvSIG 1.9 Portable 1.0. NavTable is a gvSIG extension that allows the management of alphanumeric data in a comfortable way. Despite of its simplicity it offers several features that give itself a versatile use and it is very helpful for users. The special feature of NavTable is that represents each element in a row, separating the attributes by columns. Besides from its graphical interface it is possible to navigate through the alphanumeric and geographical data by means of buttons. It is also very extending since its central panel can be exchanged with personalized forms in a easy way. gvSIG 1.9 Portable v2 is made by Cartolab, CSGIS, gvSIG Association and Sextante Geospatial Services S.L.

Project Description

Project resources

This USB disk release contains a runnable non-official version of gvSIG 1.9 with sextante and network extension for Windows Vista and Windows 7. The objective of this distribution is allowing the user to run a fully-functional version of gvSIG, sextante and network extension on a computer with no software prerequisites.

The SEXTANTE project aims to develop a comprehensive set of extensions forgvSIG which add advanced spatial data analysis capabilities to it. This includes extensions for hydrological and geomorphometrical analysis, point pattern analysis, image processing or statistical analysis, among many others, and also basic raster and vector data handling tools. All together, more than 200 extensions have been developed so far. Extensions can be run from the gvSIG GUI using a toolbox-like interface, and also from a command-line shell. Batch processes can be executed as well, and a graphical model builder has been recently added, which can be used to create complex models that involve several different extensions.

The main goal of network extension is to implement gvSIG with the capabilities needed to create network topology on line layers and adding the most and common used network analysis algorithms to gvSIG. With this extension, gvSIG can be used on traditional vertical markets like transport applications, logistic, marketing, emergency services, electrical companies, water management, telecommunication utilities.... gvSIG network is a set of tools that solve tipical network analisys problems like distance matrix, service area, closest facility or minimun covering tree. The new Features of the network analisys extension are:

  • Create and define network topology (using velocities, or sense of direction, modified costs, barriers, turn costs ...)
  • Calculate shortest
  • Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP)
  • Origin - Destination matrices
  • Service Areas
  • Emergency / Nearest facilities provider
  • Minimum Spanning Tree (MSP)
  • Trace (back and forward) the network and find events on the network.
