Propuesta 01: "gvSIG Association: promoting an open source business model"

The growth of the open source gvSIG Ppoject over the past five years has been matched by a growth in business based on services dealing with the project. More and more users, for example, local governments are requesting the development of new services based on gvSIG, thus promoting the development of the industrial fabric.

In order to guarantee the future of the gvSIG project, a stable organization that ensures its continuity is necessary. Based on these premises, the Association for the promotion of FOSS4G and the gvSIG development, known as "gvSIG Association” was born. The gvSIG Association aims for the sustainability of the gvSIG project and the development of FOSS4G solutions. The gvSIG Association is an open nonprofit international organization but with a business and indefinite duration. Their founding members are four companies (SME).

Likewise, the gvSIG Association has signed partnership agreements with other companies and it is working on the definition of honor membership status for all those non-business entities - such as local governments, R&D Centers and Universities that want to be part of the gvSIG Association.

Propuesta 02: "España Virtual: Building a 3D globe based on OGC services using open source software"

España Virtual is a CENIT project (Ministry of industry, tourism and commerce of Spain) which main aims are the research and the development of new techonologies applied to manage and visualize the geographical information, including its representation on the web. gvSIG has been selected as the GIS client platform and the tasks are focused specifically to its 3D view evolution. The main working guidelines are:

  • Data access optimization related to visualization adding technologies and strategies such as tile-cache or spatial multiresolution algorithms.
  • Add new supported data types directed to improve the navegation quality in 3D scenes. For instance, CityGML, KML or video stream will be supported.
  • Add 4D (temporal visualization) data support to the application core, both raster and vector layer formats.
  • Build a framework in order to execute series of tasks locally, remotely or in a parallel way.
  • Improvement of 3D inmersion feeling in order to increase realism. In this sense, it is considered the visualization of CityGML layers, the adition of support to show georeferenced video on the terrain and predefined effect of simulation like rain or fire.
  • Creation of a 3D web browser plugin: study of implemmentations through libraries such as OpenSceneGraph, WebGL y O3D.
  • Besides other tasks will be carried out in order to offer support to other working teams and experiments.

Another aim is the use of standards for every development task although there are fields in which standards do not exist. For instance, development of multiresolution algorithms will be promote with the aim of turning them into an OGC standard proposal.

Propuesta 03: "Network analysis with gvSIG"

The network analysis plugin will be oriented to real situations in several fields like transport, logistic, marketing, emergency simulation, water utilities, etc. We will show some practical examples showing the capabilities of the new network analysis plugin in gvSIG 1.9.:

  • Generating and loading a network.
  • Route calculation
  • Geomarketing: calculating service areas
  • Logistic: Origin Destination matrix and Travelling Salesman Problem
  • Emergency simulation: Nearest facility provider
  • Utilities (water, electrical, telecommunication, gas...). Network trace back and forward. Minimum Spanning Tree.

Propuesta 04: "gvSIG Publish Extension: geoportal builder"

The gvSIG publish extension allows users to deploy in minutes WMS or WFS services from geographical data displayed on a gvSIG View. Thus, gvSIG behaves as a proper tool to improve SDIs, removing some of the complexity on maintaining and publishing cartography with OGC standards. When the extension was born, it was able to create Mapserver and Geoserver services. From now on another functionality will be added, the geoportal builder capability, that is, a extremely easy way to create a geoportal with OpenLayers, Extjs and GeoExt technologies.

FOSS4G...ponencias...¡¡¡RECORDATORIO!!!

Hola,

Hola
:-)

Saludos,
Alvaro
