gvSIG celebrated its second meeting on November 23rd and 24th of 2006 in the Auditorium of the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum in the Ciutat de les Arts i de les Ciències, Valencia, organized by the Conselleria d'Infraestructures i Transport and IVER Tecnologías de la Información, and sponsored by Fujitsu-Siemens, Prodevelop, and Fujitsu, with the collaboration of Azertia and Andago and meeting 311 people from Europe and America.

In this conferences, projects developed over the gvSIG platform as well as other free products for the geographic information management by several organization were presented. Discussion groups on free open source software, interoperability and standards on geographic information, and tecnical workshops in the use of gvSIG for the development of GIS projects were celebrated too.
