More than 650 people participated in the 4th gvSIG Conference which took place at the Valencia Conference Centre from 1st - 5th December 2008. The slogan for these conference was: ‘gvSIG. Moving forward together.’. Our aim was not to go over what has already been done, but to build the future of gvSIG together. We wanted to exchange ideas and opinions, so that gvSIG keeps growing.

The Open Geospatial Consortium Meeting and the Eclipse Day event were celebrated at the same time. The objective was to consolidate them as the benchmark forum for open source GIS projects, to create a framework for defining open source and interoperable GIS standards and to create a conference where experiences can be shared among FLOSS communities.
