<li>Potential to define new Coordinate Reference Systems (user's CRS). The definition of CRS by users can be achieved by three methods:
<ul>
<li>Specifying all the parameters.</li>
<li>Taking as starting point one of the EPSG CRS and modifying the selected parameters.</li>
<li>By specifying the CRS through the WKT (well known text).</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Potential to perform compound transformations related to the source CRS as well as the target CRS.<br>
This option is useful when there is no direct transformation between two datums, but instead there is a datum for each and a common CRS for both. A compound transformation allows to re-project between datums of which the direct transformation parameters are unknown, doing the transformation in two steps.</li>
